In this virtual and interactive educational program, students are encouraged to become positive bystanders in instances of sexual and interpersonal violence and harassment. High School aged students (ages 13-18) learn to identify problem situations and practical skills for safe and effective intervention. Students will use scenarios and practice discussions in order to gain the skills they need to become active bystanders. They will engage in dialogue around healthy relationships, safety-planning, and when and how to engage in safety measures surrounding gender-based violence.
This three (3) week course is broken into three bite-sized workshop sessions held on three Wednesdays in January 2021: January 13th, 20th, and 27th from 4:30pm – 6:30pm. Workshop sessions will be held on Zoom and are meant for students to attend ALL three of the workshop sessions in order to get the full bystander intervention experience.
Workshop sessions will be recorded and recordings will be made available for folks who registered and were not able to attend.
The two facilitators of this program are trained and certified in presenting the Bringing in The Bystander training program.
