SUBMISSION GUIDELINESISSION

Cultivate arts magazine is a publication of HopeWorks of Howard County Maryland. Themes for your submitted work (both visual and literary) should focus on reflections about growing up, relationships, family and friends, activism, change, social justice, empowerment, transformation, hope, self-care, or healing. Writers/artists must be ages 18 years or younger.

2022 Submission Season: Opens November 1, 2021. Closes May 8, 2022. Submitting early in the submission season is encouraged. Acceptance e-mails will be sent by July 2022.

Poetry and Essay Submissions

Poetry: submissions are limited to 3 poems

Essay/Fiction: should be double spaced and not exceed 5,000 words

Please include the type of work, your name, the word count (essay only), and bio (75-word maximum) written in third person. Also, provide your parent/guardian’s name, phone number, and mailing address.

Art and Photography Submissions

You may submit one to four images. Please include the type of work, your name, and bio (75-word maximum) written in third person. Also, provide your parent/guardian’s name, phone number, and mailing address.

All Submissions

Click the button below to go to the online submission form. You will be notified if a submission is accepted. If accepted, your parent/guardian will receive an approval page to sign and return. Published writers/artists will receive two copies of the magazine. Financial compensation is not available.
