Health Advisory Board Meeting

September 18 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Health Advisory Board

Addressing the long-term health effects of sexual and intimate partner violence

Research has shown that physical, sexual, and psychological violence can have lasting effects on an individual’s health, including increased risk for chronic pain, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, anxiety, depression, and gastrointestinal disorders.

HopeWorks’ Health Advisory Board brings together survivors, healthcare professionals, care providers, and community partners to address the long-term health impacts of sexual and intimate partner violence. Members serve as resources of support and information for HopeWorks’ Survivors’ Health Project and work together to raise awareness, educate healthcare providers and the community, improve care, and increase access to a broad range of treatment and support services.

The Health Advisory Board is open to survivors, care providers, community partners, and health practitioners across a range of disciplines, including acupuncture, internal medicine, rheumatology, trauma nursing, physical therapy, and mental health.
