HopeWorks Book Club: Cultivating Imagination for Social Justice
Come chat about literature with the HopeWorks Book Club! By reading across genres and diving into social justice-inspired discussions, we aim to imagine—and thus, create—better futures. Join us as we speculate, critique, draw connections, and reimagine.
The HopeWorks Book Club is intended for adults 18 and over unless noted otherwise. Please be advised that some material may be unsettled or disturbing in nature.

Themes of the book: LGBTQ+ relationships, complicated family dynamics, gentrification, and forgiveness.
About the author: Mia McKenzie is the award-winning author of the novels Skye Falling and The Summer We Got Free, as well as the collection of essays, Black Girl Dangerous: On Race, Queerness, Class, and Gender. Mia created BGD, a popular media website that centers queer/trans writers and readers of color.
