HopeWorks Inspiration & Social Justice Book Discussion Group
April 17 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
The HopeWorks Inspiration & Social Justice Book Discussion Group will be reading about social justice and overcoming oppression!
Please join us for the HopeWorks Inspiration & Social Justice Book Discussion Group, in partnership with the Howard County Library System, and the East Columbia 50+ Center, which will meet quarterly at the East Columbia 50+ Center, located at 6600 Cradlerock Way Columbia, MD 21045. Print and electronic copies of the selected books may be obtained via the Howard County Library System, or your regular bookseller/lender.
Discussion Group meetings will be held at the East Columbia 50+.
We’re trying something new for our next book discussion.
Our next book selection is…whatever you choose! For our April book discussion, participants will select an autobiography/biography about any Person of Color (POC) of their choice. Participants will share what they learned about their subject with others.
While you may choose a subject of interest to you, please note that the following POC have been selected by other group members:
- Viola Davis
- Ida B. Wells
- Fannie Lou Hamer
- Bessie Coleman
Our goal is to learn more about the varied experiences of people of color. Need help selecting a subject? Visit the Howard County Library (https://hclibrary.org/) or Goodreads (https://www.goodreads.com/genres/autobiography) for inspiration.
Refreshments provided.
